Scrambled Defuncts: Souls despising the god
03/08/10 || Lord K Philipson
Ooookaaaayyy… Can someone tell me what the fuck is going on here? Have you ever put on 5 different albums from 5 different genres on 5 different stereos at the same time in the same room? Most prolly not, why the fuck would you? Let me just say that Scrambled Defuncts sounds like you just did though. This is some weird-ass music hailing from fucken Moscow, Russia. Sure, we all know shit is not well over there, but I didn’t think we’d ever see a band putting the situation into actual music.
Scrambled Defuncts are completely fucked up, to put it mildly. I’ll give them a 10 for being innovative and creating something seldom heard in today’s scene. But I’ll lower the score becoz even if it’s a fresh breath of ideas – it’s just too… FUBAR. You get tubas, horns, pianos, strings and muthafucken whatnot playing (among other things) jazzy sections in the middle/at the same time of as brutal fucken blasting Americanized death metal. Yeah, you heard me.
I am puzzled.
Scrambled Defuncts create some interesting music, that’s for sure. I have no idea what kind of people they are expecting to reach with this though. The average metal fan wouldn’t understand a thing about it since it’s not sounding like Slipknot. The more experimental metal fan wouldn’t understand a thing either since it’s probably too fucken crazy even for them. I smile when I hear it becoz it’s all over the place and absolutely insane. I don’t see myself listen to this all too often though. I’d like to keep my sanity for a little longer.
Just listen to some tunes on MySpace and you’ll see what I mean. Put on the opening track “Retribution” for example. You won’t understand a fucken thing but you will get my point. Either this band is a bunch of geniuses or full of hardcore retarded human beings. It’s fucken interesting music though, that’s for sure.
